Bangalore 13 June: FTCI Chairman, CEO & staff along with members of 5 Tibetan Cooperatives in Karnataka called on newly elected Chief Minister of Karnataka, His Excellency Shri Siddaramiah and congratulated him for Congress Party victory in the recent election and for assuming Chief Minister’s post.
Members of FTCI also called on Honorable Minister of Co-operation, Shri H S Mahadeva Prasad and congratulated him for assuming the new post. He has been a long-time supporter of Tibetan issues and attended several events organized by Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society in Mysore.
They have also called on Honorable Minister of Food and Civil Supply, Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, son of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, late Shri Gundu Rao who hailed from Coorge, which is near Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement. Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao has also been long-time supporter of Tibetan issues and presided over many events on Tibet in Bangalore.
They have also met Honorable Minister of Transportation and Bangalore Urban district-incharge, Shri Ramalinga Reddy and congratulated him for assuming new post. He has been the six-time MLA from Koramangala where majority of Tibetans in Bangalore reside. He had earlier inaugurated Tibet Mall in December, 2011.
FTCI CEO also called on Minster for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Department responsible for construction and maintenance of infrastructure in Tibetan Settlement like internal roads and water tanks. He also called on Minster for Minorities Welfare. Many Tibetan students get graduate scholarship through Minorities Departement in Karnataka State.
Karnataka is a home for over 40,000 Tibetans in five Tibetan Settlements. Co-operative societies have been registered in all these settlements. Karnataka Government had graciously given nearly 14,000 acres of land for Tibetan resettlement.
Members of Tibetan cooperatives thanked all the Ministers for their consistent support.
