Tinsukia 28 Jan : In a rare new development in Tibetan cooperative movement, Miao cooperative society embarked on hotel and restaurant business venture at Tinsukia, breaking with tradition on business activity.
Mr Mahata, Additional Superintendent of Police (Security), Tinsukia graced the inaugural function of Hotel Choepheling as a Chief Guest. Also present at the function were Guest of Honor Mr Colonel Sumit, Commanding Officer of 1 Vikas SFF and Special Guests Ven. Wangchen, Tibetan MP and Mr Pema Delek, FTCI Chairman. Several dignitaries attended the function including Tibetan Settlement Officer of Miao and Tezu settlement, Tezu cooperative secretary, camp leaders and representatives of various organizations from Tezu and Miao settlement. During the function, cultural program was performed by CST Miao students.
Hotel Choepheling consists of 13 well-furnished rooms and one AC restaurant by name Potala Restaurant. The room tariff ranges between Rs 450 and Rs 1030. Fifteen well-trained staff has been employed for the hotel.
This new hotel is located at the heart of city. It is 3 km away from railway station and 40 km from airport. Very soon a Tibetan Market complex will be coming up adjacent to the hotel building.
Tinsukia is a regional business hub in Assam. It is situated 480 km northeast of Guwahati and 110 km from Miao settlement. Tibetan people residing at Tezu and Miao settlement come down to the city for bulk purchase, medical treatment and travel by train and air.
