Bangalore 16 August: FTCI CEO Tashi Wangdu, Deputy CEO Tenzin Yega and Hotel Tibet Bangalore Manager Tenzin Lecktsok have met Chief Minister Shri Jagdish Shetter, Home Minister Shri R Ashoka, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police and other concerned police and intelligence of the Government of Karnataka at the Chief Minister’s home office this morning and apprised them about the usage of misleading photos in some social media, websites and local Urdu news paper on recent Burma issue with photos taken during earth quake in Tibet in 2010.
Chief Minister has assured full protection and security for all the North East people and Tibetans from the government and appealed them not to leave Bangalore. Government has also set up nodal officer and helpline and assured to depute security and patrolling to area concentrated with North East people and Tibetan.
After the meeting, FTCI CEO and his colleagues met media people and informed them about the misleading photo being spread in social media, website and newspaper.
Due to the violent incidence in Burma and Assam, minor incidence and panic have arisen in Hubli, Mysore and Bangalore. A Tibetan boy was stabbed by two youths on motorcycle on 14 August evening in Mysore. Some people are said to have been issued threats by miscreants. The threats allegedly state that they (northeast people and Tibetan) leave the city by 20th August. Following the threats, there has been a mass exodus of northeast people to their state. Many Tibetan students and youth from Mysore and Bangalore move out to their respective settlements.
