Miao 21 Sept: Over 40 Tibetan co-operators including Chairmen and Secretaries of 15 co-operatives, managers and staff of Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India Ltd., met on Sunday for the 15th Annual Conference of Tibetan cooperatives in India.
Mr RD Thongon, Joint RCS, Arunachal Pradesh presided over as a Chief Guest to mark the opening of the conference. Mr T Mara, ADC, Miao and M Riba, Assistant RCS, Arunachal Pradesh graced over the function as special invitees. Also present were Local Assembly Chairman, Settlement Officer, Representative of NGOs and camp leaders.
Organized by FTCI and coordinated by Miao Co-operative Society from 20th September to 22nd September, the 3-day conference will be spent primarily on discussing subjects relating to revival of existing business units, starting new innovative project in future; concerted efforts to secure financial support and assistance from the respective state government for benefit of share members and general public and other agendas.
A minute’s silence before the proceedings on the first day was observed in solidarity with martyrs who have immolated themselves for the Tibet cause.
After rendition of Tibetan and Indian national anthem and a group song by children of CST Miao School, Mr Tashi Wangdu, FTCI CEO greeted the guests and participants of the conference and presented a brief report on Tibetan co-operatives and FTCI.
While speaking about evolution of co-operative movement, Mr Pema Delek, FTCI Chairman expressed his gratitude to the Cooperative Department of Arunachal Pradesh Government for support and assistance given to Tibetan societies and requested the government to continue with their assistance.
Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other invited Guests then picked 10 lucky student’s name from the box for Nyamdel Scholarship.
Mr Riba, Special Invitee praised the expansion and diversification of Miao society in the past couple of years and requested other Tibetan cooperatives to give suggestions to Miao society for further improvement.
While acknowledging Miao society for producing quality carpet and generating employment for localites and Tibetan settlers, Mr T Mara, Special Invitee, emphasised the conference participants to take active part in Annual Conference. He even expressed his appreciattion to the Tibetan community in general for the ways Tibetan kept alive and preserved its unique culture and heritage.
Mr RD Thongon, the Chief Guest complimented Tibetan societies of Arunachal Pradesh for proper maintenance of their books of account. He narated about his assocattion with Tibetan societies in Arunachal Pradesh. He further noted that Tibetan cooperatives in Arunachal Pradesh are functiong as per the Cooperative Acts and Rules of Arunachal Pradesh. He also praised the quality of Tibetan carpet manufactured by Tibetan Society.
During the conference, 15 co-operatives present their annual report and financial statement, followed by question and answer session. On the second day, review on implementation of resolutions passed in the previous meeting is being done.
On the following day, conference participants discuss on agendas in group and submit their report and subsequently resolutions are passed for implementation.
